Citizen Men's AT0200-05E Eco-Drive Chronograph Canvas Watch Reviews

Keep time with military precision while adding a unique edge to your wardrobe with the Citizen Eco-Drive Men's Chronograph Canvas Watch. Featuring the clean look and the rugged dependability of a stainless steel case and bezel, this timepiece relies on the unique Citizen Eco-Drive movement system, so you never need to replace its battery. Eco-Drive is an advanced, technical system that uses a thin solar panel under the dial to convert light energy from any source into electrical energy used to run your watch. Also playing a key role in this unique system is a special energy storage cell that greatly increases the efficiency and dependability of using light as a power source. As an added benefit, Eco-Drive power doesn't utilize the harmful chemicals contained in traditional batteries, so it's an excellent environmental choice as well.

The watch features a black dial with easy-to-read Arabic numerals in white, a convenient date window at four o'clock, a slim second tracker on the outer dial, and three subdials that provide chronograph functionality along with the ability to track hours on a 24-hour scale. The dial is further offset with luminescent minute and hour hands and a sweeping red seconds hand. Even the cool canvas band on this watch offers ultra-detailed construction. In addition to featuring a sturdy buckle clasp that relies on steel-reinforced eyelets, the band is backed with leather, which provides added durability and results in a pleasant feel against your wrist. This versatile men's watch is water resistant to 330 feet.

*Charging information: Functions of this watch may not work correctly if the watch is not charged, or charged properly. Please see the full Technical Information.

To set the time *(refer to full-setting instructions here: Manual ):
  1. Pull the crown out to the time correction position when the second hand has reached the 0 seconds position.
  2. Turn the crown to set the time. The 24-hour hand moves in conjunction with the hour hand. Pay attention to AM and PM when setting the time.
  3. Securely return the crown to the normal position in synchronization with a telephone or other time service.

To set the date:
  1. Pull the crown out to the date correction position.
  2. Turn the crown to the right to set the date. The crown turns freely and the date does not change if the crown is turned to the left.
  3. If the date is set while the time on the watch is between the hours of about 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM, the date may not change on the following day. If this happens, set the date after temporarily moving the hands to a time other than between the above times.

Using the Chronograph*:

The chronograph function of this watch is able to measure and display elasped time up to 59 minutes, 59 seconds in 1 second units. After 60 minutes have elasped, each of the chronograph hands automatically stop at the 12:00 position.

    Chronograph Timing:
  1. Start timing by pressing button (A). The chronograph is repeatedly started and stopped by pressing button (A).
  2. Pressing button (B) resets the chronograph to 0 seconds.
*Note: Do not subject the chronograph to strong impacts while chronograph timing is in progress. Subjecting the watch to a strong impact during chronograph timing or when the chronograph has stopped automatically after 60 minutes have elasped can cause the chronograph minute hand to shift out of position. If this happens, press button (B) to reset to the 12:00 position before using the chronograph again.

1 "Good alternative to JCrew Timex... but failed" 2010-07-26
By

When I purchased the watch, I had every intention of changing the strap to an orange ballistic nylon one; the initial strap was just way too heinous. After I switched the strap, I felt the watch looked really good, and was a good alternative to the timex they sold at jcrew, which cost significantly more. I was able to wear the watch for 2 weeks, and I really enjoyed it. However, the only problem with the watch is that the crystal is really cheap. One day at dinner, a friend accidentally banged a mug lightly against the crystal. The crystal shattered, and I brought it into various shops to try to get it repaired. All shops quoted me repair costs of $300+, and Citizen said it was not covered by warranty. Thus, 2 weeks with the watch, it broke, and became unusable.

4 "Nice chronograph with a worthless wrist band" 2010-07-21

I purchased this watch to replace an Invicta self winding chronograph which had ceased self wind after just a few months use. I've owned a Citizen dress style Eco-Drive for a couple of years and Eco-Drive is a great feature- just wearing the watch in normal light keeps it charged. The face, hands and sub-dials of this watch are very crisp and easy to read. The chronograph works exactly as it should. One major problem with this time piece is the super short, really cheap, ugly green canvas strap. I don't know very many women with a wrist small enough for this strap to fit, let alone an average man! Other reviews noted the strap problem, so I ordered a $20, 20MM leather strap along with the watch which solved the problem. Once the band is replaced, this Citizen looks as good as many $500 chronographs and functions as well. A good buy.

5 "I like it" 2010-07-18

It's a great looking waterproof watch and the battery never runs out.

Note: I put a Zulu band on it. See customer images.
It looks and works better than the stock band but it sets off the metal detector at the airport.

5 "Great Casual Watch" 2010-07-15

Nice thin casual watch. Love that Eco-Drive system that keeps you from having to replace batteries. The strap is very short. I have relatively small wrists and wear it on the loosest setting.

5 "Eco-Drive" 2010-07-11

I purchased this watch about a month ago. I am very pleased with the purchase and have only two things to comment on.

The strap length, it is a bit short and I would say I have average size wrists for a 6'0" guy. That being said I buckle it into the 2nd hole from the end.I would prefer it to be 1 maybe 2 more inside but then you would have that overhang so I have learned to appreciate it.

The strap color. In the picture it appears to be a tan tinted olive drab when in fact it is a very full green olive drab. I like it better but yeah it looks a bit different than it does in the picture.

All and all it is a quality watch and I am extremely happy with my purchase. I would definetly recommend this watch.
